UM Alum’s Trailer for New Documentary: Shenandoah

The New York Times’ Lens blog did a short post about an upcoming documentary, Shenandoah, about the beating and death of a Mexican immigrant by four members of a high school football team. Set amid a backdrop of a Pennsylvania coal town in decline, the trailer portends a powerful viewing experience and is directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer (and University of Michigan alum) David C. Turnley.

Turnley and his twin brother Peter (also a UM alum) have been photojournalists for many years (you can see Steve Kroft’s profile of them on 60 Minutes here); his photos of the struggles during South African apartheid decades ago were stunning and evocative, making me a long-term fan.
